Poker Hand Rankings

Poker hands are ranked by the table below. In the event that two players have the same hand, for example a straight, then the player with the highest version of that hand would win. A King high straight beats a Queen high straight for example. If two players both have the same pair, such as a pair of Fives, then the player with the highest remaining card wins. So if one player has [5♠ 5♥ A♠ 7♣ 4♥] and the other has [5♣ 5♦ K♠ Q♠ 2♥] then the first player will win the pot, because his Ace of Spades beats the second player's King. Remember that only the best five cards count, so in games where more than five cards are used, only the top five are used as tie breakers. If two players have the same hand, they will split the pot.
